Let's Be Optimists

Let's Be Optimists

On Townhall and other Conservative venues, I keep reading pessimism about the upcoming 2008 elections -- how Hillary Clinton is SURE to become the next American President.

Hold your horses, partner.  There are many reasons to be OPTIMISTIC.  Let me see if I can remember them all:

1) In the Democrat (I refuse to say Democratic) field, there is not ONE top-tier candidate with Executive experience:  Not Hillary, not Obama, not Edwards -- (who has always struck me as a sleazy snake oil salesman type).  These Senators and former senators have 1 of 100 votes, and have NO EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY OR EXPERIENCE.  Qualifications:  Zero, in my book.

2) Hillary has a 49% DISSAPROVAL rating...Let's examine that.  49 PERCENT OF ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS POLLED SAID THEY'D NEVER VOTE FOR HER.  Consider that her husband, Bubba, got less than that percentage in both the '92 and '96 elections.

3) The Republican candidates have:  A.  A former mayor of NYC, who turned that city from a corrupt, dirty cesspool of a city, to the cleanest large city in the USA, and also a man who was a hero on 9/11 and after;  B.  A former Governor of a state who's Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, and who fought (unsuccessfully, however) with the State legislature to allow same-sex marriage to be voted on in a referendum by the people -- not to be legalized by a bunch of judges; also who took a failed Olympics in Salt Lake City, which was corrupt and losing money, into a successful enterprise to look back on with pride; also who started an investment company, Bain Capital, which is now a Billion Dollar company;  C. A southern state Senator who was also a lawyer during the Watergate hearings, and also an actor with a flair for down-home coloquialisms.

All three of these front-runners are better qualified than ANY Democrat -- although, Romney has more experience in an executive position fighting against Lefties than the others.

4) All 3 of these Republican candidates could RUN RINGS AROUND HILLARY IN A DEBATE -- ESPECIALLY ROMNEY OR RUDY.  Whichever is the nominee could also use sound-bites of her speeches, and play them in ads, to show how much of a SOCIALIST SHE IS.

5) Dream ticket -- In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) -- Romney/Thompson:  The executive experience of Romney, and the down-home Southern charm of Thompson.  This ticket would WIN in the General Election.  Then Rudy Guliani could be appointed Attorney General in a Romney administration.  -- WOULDN'T THAT BE A KICK-A88 ADMINISTRATION!!
