POSSIBLY THE FEMALE REAGAN

For about three months now, I've had my eye on Sarah Palin.  As a political junkie and a mom, I have made it my mission to stay up on up-and-coming conservative politicians in the Republican Party.  There's only one young conservative in Wisconsin on the national stage now -- Congressman Paul Ryan, but alas, he's not from my district.  Bobby Jindal, from Louisiana has been another young Republican Governor that I've been watching since last year.  But I digress...

Sarah Palin is an inspired choice.  That's not because she's a woman, but because she's a reformer and a proponent of using Alaska's resources for feuling our country's energy -- specifically oil and natural gas drilling.

I believe John McCain may have chosen her for his VP choice, because she has a record of standing up to corrupt politicians AND oil companies -- yet, she STILL wants to tap Alaska's resources in an environmenally safe way.

The woman is an inspired choice by McCain for other reasons as well: 1) She's a lifetime member of the NRA and a hunter -- shoring up McCain's "gun" vote. 2) She' a mother of five -- she helps McCain with the "soccer mom" vote.  3) She has a son in the military -- she shores up the military vote AND instantly muzzles lefties who scream about "if you're for the war, why don't YOU send your own children to fight?".  4) She has a newborn who she chose NOT to abort, knowing he has Down's Syndrome -- PROVING that she is walking the pro-life walk.  This immediately contrasts with the Left's position on abortion AND that horriffic stance on "Born Alive Infant Protection Act" that Obama worked against and voted against.

OK.  I'm going to go out on a limb here.  Some people may think I'm a bit of a right-wing loon, but here goes:  God works in mysterious ways.  Consider this: 1) Hillary Clinton, also a Saul Alinsky disciple (as Obama) gets defeated in the Democrat primary by a virtual unknown first term Senator, who won ALL of his previous races virtually unopposed, because his minions had them thrown off the ballot on technicalities and messy divorce records. 2) Hillary would have been more appealing to middle America, being a strong female AND a mother -- yet, the Lefties managed to get rid of her in the Primaries because she wasn't left enough -- or so she seemed.  This getting rid of Hillary as an opponent was seen by me as a problem, which had me really worried about this Messiah-like candidate in Obama.  However, God knew better.  3) John McCain puts someone on his staff who grabs the "Messiah" image, and runs "The One" ads, which chip away at Obama's lead.  4) McCain and Obama agree to appear at Rick Warren's Saddleback church, to discuss their plans and their policy positions for their proposed presidencies, and surprisingly, JOHN MCCAIN WIPES THE FLOOR WITH BARACK OBAMA.  5) News comes out on talk radio and Fox News, that when in the Illinois Senate, Barack Obama voted against the "Infant Born Alive Protection Act" three times.  This results in a virtual TIE in the polls, going into the Democrat convention.  6) The Democrat convention happens, and during the convention, WGN radio gets it's free speech rights strong-armed by minions of the Obama camp.  The interviewer was interviewing Stanley Kurtz of National Review, because Kurtz was investigating into Obama's chairmanship of the Chicago Annenburg Challenge, which Bill Ayers also had great influence over.  This ties Obama with this far-left radical for a number of YEARS, in more than just "someone who lives in my neighborhood".  The 30-year host of the WGN radio show, interviewing Mr.Kurtz said that in 30 YEARS OF RADIO, HE HAD NEVER SEEN SUCH AN ASSAULT ON FREE SPEECH.  7) Then, just as the Dem. convention ends, the next morning, John McCain announces that he's picked Sarah Palin as his choice for Vice President.

I realize that many of you doubt the wisdom of God, but these SEVEN events in this presidential campaign are NOTHING SHORT THAN THE HAND OF GOD GUIDING EVENTS.  It's very possible that Sarah Palin may turn out to be our female Ronald Reagan.  Yes, I said it.  We have been praying to God for another Reagan to save us from the scourge of Socialism that our government has been headed toward, and LOW AND BEHOLD, IT HAPPENED.  God in his wisdom found us this self-described "hockey mom", who could turn out to be John McCain's understudy for 4-8 years, and then be the FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT.

Congratulations to John McCain, for choosing the right woman at the right time.  "She's exactly what I need.  She's exactly what this country needs." -  John McCain

This is the issue that fires me up!

When I first heard about it in June, I thought "hey, this could stir up Conservatives to get excited and vote accordingly again!"  I began pouring through the internet and finding every article I could get my eyes on, to find out what the movers and shakers were saying.  Then, a couple of weeks ago, Rush Limbaugh mentioned it as the BIG ISSUE of the upcoming elections.  What is it?

ENERGY.  Specifically, domestic oil drilling (but also refinery buiding, nuclear energy, clean coal energy and the like).

This is the issue that is going to catch fire.  Even an average Joe has begun a petition drive to bring the word to Congress to DRILL HERE.  It's at www.drillforoilhere.com, and is FREE, and you can add your own comments when you put your name on the petition.  How cool is that??  I encourage all who read this, to sign the petition.  The goal is 100,000 signatures to take to Capitol Hill.  Let's help him exceed that goal.  For my part, I've e-mailed just about every radio talk show I could think of, to alert them of this new grassroots petition.  Hopefully, at least ONE will take the baton and run with it.

Think about it, folks!  This could be the new issue that gets Conservatives FIRED UP because we're FED UP!  Remember how we stopped the Scamnesty bill?  Remember how Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity encouraged people to call their congressman about it, and how groups like GrassTopsUSA made blast faxes to flood the halls of Congress?  Let's do it again!!

It is grassroots movements like this that are Democracy in Action!  It is what we can do to make a difference!  I for one, am tired of the do-nothing Pelosi House, and I'm also tired of their stupid talking points on how "we can't drill our way out of this".  THAT'S A LIE!!

THIS COUNTRY HAS MORE UNTAPPED OIL THAN ALL OF OUR IMPORTS.  OUR NATION'S SECURITY DEPENDS ON US BEING INDEPENDANT OF CORRUPT GOVERNMENTS FOR OUR OIL.  WE HAVE PLENTY HERE!

So, start by signing the petition, and tell everyone you know about it: www.drillforoilhere.com.

IT'S ABOUT TIME

IT'S ABOUT TIME...a Presidential candidate gave a speech on faith and freedom in this country.  If you are a Conservative and a regular Townhall reader, you owe it to yourself to read and/or listen to Mitt Romney's speech on Thursday, 12/6.  Before this speech I had already decided to vote for Romney in the Primary, but now I am more sure than ever, that I have made the right choice.  I had doubts about him especially after Gregg Jackson's scathing article appeared in Townhall.com a few weeks ago, but I am convinced that the man is the right choice and that Gregg Jackson is wrong.  I think the leftists in the Main Stream Media are incorrect in their assessment that "he only mentioned the word 'Mormon' once" or "he didn't include atheists".  Hello...the speech wasn't about ATHEISTS, it was about FAITH IN GOD, and how we as a free people in a free nation are FREE TO WORSHIP GOD AS WE BELIEVE.

This is the man we have been waiting for, Conservatives.  We have been pining for a strong man of conviction, who is a man of faith and a strong believer of freedom of Religion in this country.  This is the man who spoke about the FOUNDATION OF OUR COUNTRY -- HOW THIS GREAT COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON FREEDOM OF RELIGION.  This is the man who can beat the Democrat nominee, whoever that is.  This is the man who can push back the creep and scourge of Socialism that the Democrats have so misguidedly embraced.  This is the man that can bring back that feeling of pride in being an American...that Ronald Reagan-like feeling.

Other candidates just don't have it -- the charisma, the articulate speech, the strong family values, the proven fiscal Conservatism that Mitt Romney has.  This man is the whole package.  He is the right choice.  He's not perfect, but he's a better choice than Rudy, Huckabee, or even Fred Thompson (who I thought was the Conservative choice, but has been a disappointment).  Mitt Romney is our man, and hopefully, the choice for the next Republican President.

Say it Aint So, John!

PM John Howard of Australia concedes defeat in election:  Say it ain't so, John!  This is the one world leader, in my opinion, who has been even more of a staunch ally in the GWOT than even Tony Blair in England.  His "Free to leave" speech in 2006 was nothing short of brilliant, and I only wish some of our Republican candidates for President would have the cajones that he did, in delivering that speech.

When it seems that old Europe -- namely, France and Germany -- are going more conservative, other countries are electing labor party leaders -- Australia and England -- who are more socialistic in their ideas.  Let's hope that these countries remain steadfast in their support for the fight against Islamic Jihadism, for it is the fight for our very survival and way of life that we are fighting for.

Recently in Iraq, the tide has turned toward free government.  Let us all pray for continued success in that part of the world, and a vindication for our President's foreign policy -- which had been under assault since the Iraq invasion of 2003.   Afghanistan rarely makes the news, unless things heat up in the fight against the Jihadists.  In both places, John Howard has been a staunch ally of the United States and our President, supporting him against the onslaught of Islamic jihadists.  Howard had his own battles with terrorism in Bali and East Timor in his part of the world, so has had first hand knowledge of the battle that is ongoing in our lifetime.  Let us pray that his successor will fight with the same tenacity and courage that PM Howard has.

Good luck in your new life, John Howard, and may God bless you!

Let's Be Optimists

Let's Be Optimists

On Townhall and other Conservative venues, I keep reading pessimism about the upcoming 2008 elections -- how Hillary Clinton is SURE to become the next American President.

Hold your horses, partner.  There are many reasons to be OPTIMISTIC.  Let me see if I can remember them all:

1) In the Democrat (I refuse to say Democratic) field, there is not ONE top-tier candidate with Executive experience:  Not Hillary, not Obama, not Edwards -- (who has always struck me as a sleazy snake oil salesman type).  These Senators and former senators have 1 of 100 votes, and have NO EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY OR EXPERIENCE.  Qualifications:  Zero, in my book.

2) Hillary has a 49% DISSAPROVAL rating...Let's examine that.  49 PERCENT OF ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS POLLED SAID THEY'D NEVER VOTE FOR HER.  Consider that her husband, Bubba, got less than that percentage in both the '92 and '96 elections.

3) The Republican candidates have:  A.  A former mayor of NYC, who turned that city from a corrupt, dirty cesspool of a city, to the cleanest large city in the USA, and also a man who was a hero on 9/11 and after;  B.  A former Governor of a state who's Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, and who fought (unsuccessfully, however) with the State legislature to allow same-sex marriage to be voted on in a referendum by the people -- not to be legalized by a bunch of judges; also who took a failed Olympics in Salt Lake City, which was corrupt and losing money, into a successful enterprise to look back on with pride; also who started an investment company, Bain Capital, which is now a Billion Dollar company;  C. A southern state Senator who was also a lawyer during the Watergate hearings, and also an actor with a flair for down-home coloquialisms.

All three of these front-runners are better qualified than ANY Democrat -- although, Romney has more experience in an executive position fighting against Lefties than the others.

4) All 3 of these Republican candidates could RUN RINGS AROUND HILLARY IN A DEBATE -- ESPECIALLY ROMNEY OR RUDY.  Whichever is the nominee could also use sound-bites of her speeches, and play them in ads, to show how much of a SOCIALIST SHE IS.

5) Dream ticket -- In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) -- Romney/Thompson:  The executive experience of Romney, and the down-home Southern charm of Thompson.  This ticket would WIN in the General Election.  Then Rudy Guliani could be appointed Attorney General in a Romney administration.  -- WOULDN'T THAT BE A KICK-A88 ADMINISTRATION!!

Out of control Hollywood

Is it just me, or do you find Hollywood more and more obsessed with these out of control twenty-somethings, who move in and out of rehab?  I'm speaking of Britney, Lindsay, Paris, and Nicole, and their ilk.  What is it about these vacuous airheads that we are supposed to be interested in?  OK, so when at their best, (especially in Britney and Lindsay's cases) these young women CAN exhibit some talent, but SO WHAT!  I think other young actresses such as Mandy Moore, Rachel McAdams and Reese Witherspoon are just as or more talented, and you don't find those girls all coked-up and headed yet again, for rehab.

We, as parents, should talk to our teenagers and younger, about how these rehab girls are NOT role models, and how they are ones to point to when you want to see how messed up you can become when you are too young to handle the mega-millions along with the mega-spotlight.  We all seem to think that lots of money will make us happy, but does anyone really think that Britney,Lindsay , or Paris are happy?

Just my 2 cents.
